Hawaii COVID infection risk ramps up to Very High
In less than 4 days, Hawaii’s number of new COVID-19 cases has skyrocketed to more than double, going from the upper 300s to the highest at 797 on December 17, 2021.
This has caused the Aloha State to now be ranked as “Very High” risk by Covid Act Now which provides a 5-color risk score for states and counties across the nation so citizens and government officials can better understand COVID status in their area.
Contributing to this Very High risk status are numbers showing 44.4 new cases daily per 100,000, and infection rate of 1.73 percent, and a positive test rate of 6%. To date, the state report 73.9% people have been vaccinated with at least 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Right now, there are 11 other states at the Very High risk ranking, and they include Texas, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, California, Mississippi, Tennessee, New York, Oklahoma, and Arizona. There are no states at Extremely High Risk, and the lowest risk state is Vermont.
